Limited Salary Increases in Executive Management

COMPANIES WILL CREATE 15% MORE MANAGERIAL POSITIONS THIS YEAR THAN LAST YEAR,

SALARIES OF MANAGERS WILL NOT INCREASE

Leading European executive search company, Anderson Willinger, executive search, estimates 15% annual increase in new senior management positions this year. Most new managerial positions will be created by small and medium size companies, both for local markets and for expansion outside Czech Republic and Slovakia. Positive development of recruitment will probably not be reflected in an increase in managerial salaries.

SURVEY RESULTS

January numbers of new orders to fill top management positions has reached the level of orders in January 2008. Types of recruiting positions do not differ from period before recession either.

We can see the biggest difference between 2008 and 2015 in the structure of clients and sectors that fill these positions. While in 2008 there were mostly large corporations, in 2015 will be new positions created mostly by small and medium size companies.

Companies are mostly looking for managers who are focused on generating new orders, products, sales channels and overall new business. These positions represented in January 80% of total managerial recruitment.

While in January 2008, the largest part of the industry, which recruited to the new created positions, consists of financial services, IT/Telecommunications, services B2B and B2C and production, the structure has changed in 2015. Majority share of recruitments have service sector especially B2B, B2C, as well as manufacturing, engineering or outsourcing.

FREE POSITIONS OF THE YEAR 2015

It is anticipated that large companies will seek their managers in areas of business development, product development, digital marketing, sales, finance or risk.

Corporates will strengthen the role of the control and processing functions.

Expanding areas are investments of local billionaires.

Modern wave of start-ups funds will slightly decrease at the expense of purchase of already well-established small and medium-sized companies with the potential for global expansion. Renewal of management will be essential.

ROLE OF CEO IN 2015

As a change in the market can be considered that companies are much more willing to discuss variable components, which were until recently in a large number of cases strictly set.

Important source of new CEOs will be:

  • Start-up companies, which can pay manager rather with future share or profit.
  • R&D companies, which have excellent technology, decent income and huge potential for international expansion.

TOP MANAGEMENT AND PROMOTION OF FAITHFUL EMPLOYEES

Companies are able to change their management more aggressively if the plans and results are not accomplished, and it is happening even in large organizations, which used to be more conservative.

Many companies are responding with promotions of the lower levels for lower financial rewards.

Local companies will seek opportunities for international expansion, which will require a different style of management, including different managerial profile.

Multinational companies will prefer consistent managers with the ability to follow through on projects until the final implementation of the outcome. “Every third manager lacks this skill, it was showed by our study, which measured managerial skills of one hundred respondents,” says Lucie Teisler, Managing Partner at Anderson Willinger, executive search experts.

Senior leaders will become more independent entrepreneur who will count with a mission for 2- 5 years, there will be for example one year pause, filled with project contracts for small expanding companies. Successful companies are also aware that the recruitment of top leaders is necessary to refresh with managers from other disciplines, sectors and countries.
